Middle School Attendance
Middle School Attendance
Dear Westfield Families,
Welcome to a new school year! We are excited to have our students back and to partner with you in supporting their academic and personal success.
This year, one of our key focuses is student attendance. At Westfield, we believe that “Every minute of every day is the Westfield way!” Regular attendance is crucial for building strong learning habits, meaningful relationships, and student confidence.
We’re committed to helping every child thrive. Throughout the year, we’ll share updates, support, and resources with you. We’ll also celebrate and reward students who show dedication to attending and engaging daily.
Attendance reminders:
If your student is absent, arrives late, or leaves early, please notify us daily by:
Middle School information
Calling the attendance line at 847-532-7620, or
Emailing attendance.westfield@d300.org
This helps us maintain accurate records and ensures absences are excused when valid.
Valid excused absences (per District 300 policy) include:
Student illness
Recognized religious holidays
Death in the immediate family
Family emergencies
Safety or health concerns
Uncontrollable circumstances (as approved by administration)
Medical/dental appointments (with documentation)
Court appearances (with documentation)
College visits (with prior approval, typically juniors and seniors)
Military family-related absences (e.g., deployment events)
Other principal-approved reasons
Click HERE for a short video on the importance of attendance and attached you will find a calendar to help track your student's attendance.
At school, students will also monitor their own attendance to foster responsibility.
Together, let’s make this a year of growth, learning, and achievement. Thank you for being an essential part of the Westfield community.
With gratitude and excitement,
Christina Mui, Middle School
