Middle School IAR Testing Information
Westfield Families,
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, our students will be participating in upcoming state assessments. For students in grades 6–8, this includes the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The IAR is administered to all public school students in grades 3–8.
At WCS, our 6th–8th grade students will test on the following dates:
- Math: March 10–12
- ELA: March 17–19
Students will complete six total test units (three ELA and three Math) across these windows.
Important Testing Reminders:
- Electronic Devices: All personal electronic devices must be turned off and stored in lockers during testing. If a student is found with an unapproved device, their test may not be scored. Please remind your student that phones will not be accessible during testing.
- Essential Testing Materials:
- Charged Chromebook – The assessments are fully online, so please ensure your student charges their Chromebook each night.
- Wired Headphones – Portions of the test include audio supports, and we are not able to provide headphones for all students who may forget them.
- Pen or Pencil – Useful for working through Math problems on scratch paper.
Additional Considerations:
- Snacks: Lunch will be served later due to the Late Start schedule, so students are encouraged to bring a snack.
- Rest & Nutrition: A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast can make a big difference in focus and performance. We encourage families to help students start the day well-rested and nourished.
Thank you for your continued support! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Sincerely,
Westfield Administration
