WCS Elementary IAR Testing 2026
Good morning Westfield Families-
As we head into the homestretch of this school year, students will be participating in various standardized assessments. For students in 3rd grade through 5th grade one of these assessments will be the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) stated the following regarding the IAR on their website:
- The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the New Illinois Learning Standards Incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics. IAR assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics will be administered to all students in grades 3-8.
WCS Elementary will be administering the IAR to our 3rd-5th grade students on March 10th-12th for the math portion and March 17th-19th for the ELA portion. The IAR has six assessments that the students will take, three for ELA and three for Math.
To help your student be prepared for the tests:
- Please make sure to send your student with a charged chrome book each day as the test is given online through a testing platform.
- Please make sure your student has a pair of working headphones as there are portions of the test that can be read out loud to them and we want them to be able to hear them. We are not able to provide headphones for every student who forgets them.
- Have your student get a good night’s rest before the assessments.
- Prioritize sleep and nutrition
- Limit screen time the night before
- Encourage a positive mindset
- Be on time and ready to go as the testing takes place in the morning
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility this year. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
WCS Administration
